The biggest waves in Hawaii are on the north side of the islands. Waves in the winter are generally larger than the waves in the further course of the year. The island of Oahu is home to some of the biggest waves in the world. The North Coast of Ohau attracts some of the best surfers in the world and is home to major surfing competitions. Waimea Bay Beach Park draws crowds of people there to see the big wave surfers. This is fairly typical cruising down the highway and see several photographers waiting for the big catch.

This can cause treacherous wipeouts. This is not the place for beginners.

Waikiki Beach is another famous surfing destination, but for many different reasons. Wakiki has long predictable waves are not as big or as threatening as their northern counterparts. In fact, Waikiki is a great place for beginning surfers. You can walk to the beach and find a lot of different places to take surfing lesson.

Honolua Bay on Maui is also a popular surfing spot for experienced surfers. There are many beautiful beaches and surf spots in Maui. Lahaina is a great place for beginners and there are a few different surf schools can be found here. By strong winds on Maui, is also a popular destination for windsurfing and kite-surfing. Maui even has its own kite beach. On any given day, you can choose from a drive, see the coast full of kite surfing, some of which are very likely to see in magazines.

Hanalei Bay on the north shore of Kauai also has some big waves. The bay has a crescent shape and go, but the waves here can also higher in the winter months. Bay makes for some snorkeling in the summer months.

There are also some good spots for surfing in Hawaiian Islands as well as Molokai, they just are not as famous for some of these others. Whichever island you choose, you can not go wrong in Hawaii.
